Disaster risk reduction
We have embarked on actions with the communities that has been affected by the Boxing day Tsunami & people who are affected by seasonal droughts. In many landmarks we focus the communities are facing the consequences of limited access to water. We help these communities by installing alternative Tube water pipes and also provide them with water during extreme hot conditions.
We also focus on coastal vegetation actions working with communities to mobilize the villagers in the coastal belt to plant mangroves and sustain their territories.
We work with the rural communities in the cluttered corners of the Trincomalee district to organize and form community based disaster risk reduction teams and facilitates them with trainings based on the Participatory vulnerability capacity assessments
We have trained nearly 300 children and their communities on disaster time safety and evacuations plan especially targeting vulnerable schools in the coastal belts.
